Navy Drivers Jacket

There won't be many of you who remember the original Bus drivers' jacket but it was popular during the 1930's and 1940's. Yarmouth Oilskins have reimagined the bus drivers jacker into the Navy Drivers' Jacket. It was originally designed to be worn with a matching pair of trousers or slacks to create a workers uniform. That is still a strong look in modern terms. The Drivers jacket is very practical. Cut shorter at the waist for comfort with a shirt collar. The shape of the Navy Driver jacket offers a boxier silhouette with front etched Corozo fisheye button fastening. The Navy Drivers jacket has large chest pockets with buttoning pocket flaps which incorporate quarter side pockets. It has deep back yoke pleats for ease of movement. Made in 100% cotton twill, unlined with French seams the jacket is garment washed ensuring a relaxed silhouette. Butler from 'On the Buses' would have loved one of these Navy Driver Jackets. Made in Great Yarmouth, Great Britain NOTE: If you are in doubt about your size we would advise erring on the larger size Click here for sizing info

Stumbled across this website and glad that I did : they stock a great range of British goods and the service is impeccable. I purchased a Yarmouth Oilskins Admiralty shirt which was dispatched the next day. It arrived but was too small, and the return was completed via Sir Gordon Bennet and Yarmouth Oilskins immediately including refunds etc. However (not their fault at all) the replacement size took five days to arrive all down to the shambles that is Royal Mail.I will be revisiting Sir Gordon Bennet again, - a great trustworthy brand who keep their promises.

Meet the Maker: Yarmouth Oilskins

Rooted in the maritime heritage of Great Yarmouth since 1898, this legendary manufacturer has crafted weatherproof oilskin garments for over 125 years from their Norfolk coastal factory. Originally serving fishermen, the merchant navy and agricultural workers, Yarmouth Stores (as it was known) once employed over 1,200 skilled machinists before World War II, exporting oilskins and workwear to markets throughout the world. Today, twenty dedicated craftspeople—many with over 25 years' service—continue handcrafting each garment using traditional methods and original patterns preserved in the company archives. Their oilskin fabrics are sourced from British mills using sustainable natural fibres, hand-treated to achieve legendary waterproofedness that has protected sailors and workers for generations. Each piece is FSC approved, designed for decades of hard wear rather than seasonal fashion, embodying timeless coastal workwear that remains as popular worldwide as it was in the early 1900s.
