Forest Green Norfolk Sea Cape

Taking the very best details from the Yarmouth Oilskins hooded smock, the Forest Green Norfolk Sea Cape is designed to be thrown on over layers to offer protection from wind and light showers.
Yarmouth Oilskins ahve used a modern lightweight wax fabric, produced by Halley Stephenson's in Dundee, one of Britain's oldest wax cloth mills. The emulsified wax finish cloth is lightweight breathable and weather repellent. It offers a soft tumbled appearance, keeping all the character of natural cotton. The patina will develop over time and just get better and better. The wax naturally picks up marks and creases through use, which adds to the character of the fabric itself.

The cape is unlined, with branded brass press studs under the arm , and a sturdy brass zip. It has generous deep welt pockets with a buttoned storm flap, and a three piece hood. The cape can be opened flat and used as a blanket to sit on or to huddle under. It also folds down and stows in its own cloth bag.

The fabric is washable which should be line dried and lightly ironed. After a number of washes the waxed finish may deteriorate, so we advise washing your smock as infrequently as possible.
The cape carries both am embroidered felt Yarmouth Oilskins patch and the Coastal Explorers badge to celebrate the collaboration, where the cape has been tested at sea.

I purchased the navy smock (Yarmouth Oilskins) for my partner as a birthday present. My partner had forwarded me a link to a similar smock from another company, but unfortunately that company did not provide shipping from the UK to Ireland. Fortunately I found a nearly identical smock with SGB! I really appreciated that this company ships to Ireland/EU and made it easy on my end (I am currently based in the US) so I didn't have to track it through customs or make extra payments toward import charges. My partner really loves the smock, he's a gardener by trade and has worn it everyday since it arrived and said the quality is really lovely. Many thanks to Dan for responding to my questions regarding shipping and help tracking the package through to delivery. I will definitely look here for future birthday gifts (and Christmas as well)! Cheers

Items received promptly (despite Royal Mail delivering to the wrong street). Plastic free packaging, good looking and well-made items and a pleased partner, who has been wanting a stylish, blue summer jacket for some time. Thankyou.

Meet the Maker: Yarmouth Oilskins

Rooted in the maritime heritage of Great Yarmouth since 1898, this legendary manufacturer has crafted weatherproof oilskin garments for over 125 years from their Norfolk coastal factory. Originally serving fishermen, the merchant navy and agricultural workers, Yarmouth Stores (as it was known) once employed over 1,200 skilled machinists before World War II, exporting oilskins and workwear to markets throughout the world. Today, twenty dedicated craftspeople—many with over 25 years' service—continue handcrafting each garment using traditional methods and original patterns preserved in the company archives. Their oilskin fabrics are sourced from British mills using sustainable natural fibres, hand-treated to achieve legendary waterproofedness that has protected sailors and workers for generations. Each piece is FSC approved, designed for decades of hard wear rather than seasonal fashion, embodying timeless coastal workwear that remains as popular worldwide as it was in the early 1900s.
