Wilkinson Garden Pruners

William Whiteley Garden Pruners may be small but they are certainly mighty. Branded with the Wilkinson trademark, paying homage to Thomas Wilkinson & Sons whom William Whiteley incorporated in 1875. Wilkinson Black Garden Pruners are fully Teflon coated to extend life and resist corrosion meaning they are built to last throughout endless seasons in the garden. These Garden Pruners have specially designed blades to chop through tough shrubbery. Extra long handles allow for maximum leverage. And they feature one serrated blade for extra grip when cutting through thick stems and vines. Originally designed for industrial use, William Whiteley Garden Pruners were commissioned by the Post Office to cut through mail bag ties but Whiteley soon realised they're also ideal scissors for in the garden. They are even delicate and nimble enough for flower arranging and Ikebana. Hot forged and handmade by craftsmen with traditional techniques passed down for centuries. They feature chrome-plated blades to extend life and resist corrosion meaning they are built to last throughout endless seasons in the garden. William Whiteley are the oldest surviving scissorworks in the western world and have been making scissors since 1760. Madewillaim in Sheffield

Meet the Maker: William Whiteley & Sons

William Whiteley & Sons has crafted the world's finest scissors and shears in Sheffield since 1760 - making them the oldest scissorsmiths in the western world and the UK's last remaining industrial scissor maker. Founded by William Whiteley and passed through eleven generations of direct family descent, this remarkable heritage spans over 260 years of unbroken excellence. Every pair is still hand-forged using traditional techniques lovingly handed down from master to apprentice, hot-forged from the finest Sheffield steel and individually tested. The company produces over 250 different types for cutting virtually every material - from delicate embroidery silks to industrial Kevlar. Their scissors won exhibition medals in London (1851, 1862) and Paris (1855), supplied the Royal Family and Savile Row tailors, and incorporate the historic Wilkinson trademark (Thomas Wilkinson & Sons, established 1875). Sheffield's legendary reputation for steel and cutting implements lives on in every William Whiteley creation - precision tools trusted by professionals worldwide and built to last generations.
