Parkstone Musical Saw 26"

If you are an artisan, artist or craftsman or woman, what musical instrument should you take up? A Parkstone musical saw 26" of course. The sound is similar to a theremin, ethereal and haunting creating a continuous portamento/glissando tone. You hold the handle between the knees and use the bow to create the sound. The beautiful Parkstone Saw comes in a gold leafed presentation box, with bow, rosin and cheat and undoubtedly makes an unusual gift that can be treasured for a lifetime.
Thomas Flinn & Co are the last musical saw manufacturer left in Britain. And did you know that Marlene Dietrich played a mean musical saw?
Tip from customer who has already purchased: Use plenty of rosin when first playing and it will sing beautifully.

Meet the Maker: Thomas Flinn & Co

Thomas Flinn & Co stands as the UK's last remaining traditional saw and hand plane manufacturer, carrying Sheffield's legendary steel heritage forward since 1923. This family business produces an extensive range of premium quality handsaws under famous traditional brands with origins in the 18th century - including PAX (dating to 1776), Lynx Saws (Garlick), and Roberts & Lee Dorchester Saws, plus the renowned Clifton hand planes. During Sheffield's heyday, nearly 70 sawmakers operated in the city; today only Thomas Flinn survives. Every saw is made to order by skilled craftsmen using time-honoured methods - hand-forged, taper-ground, and individually tested. Sheffield's rich 250-year history in steel and cutting implements is embodied in each piece, from tenon saws to crosscut saws. As part of the Made in Sheffield movement, Thomas Flinn champions British manufacturing excellence, proving that traditional craftsmanship and modern precision can coexist beautifully in tools built to last generations.
