Inspired by the very first Duffle Coats we made for the Royal Navy, the modern twist is the removable hood that makes this a wardrobe staple.
Made utilising luxurious double-faced Italian wool fabric which is sustainably sourced, this English made garment has a classic shape derived from our original duffle coat design but features the addition of a slightly shaped waist to deliver the ultimate fit.

Meet the Maker: Montgomery

Original Montgomery has dressed everyone from the British Admiralty to fashion models since supplying the Royal Navy with duffle coats in the 1890s. Named in homage to Field Marshal Montgomery who made the duffle coat standard issue for troops during World War II, this Northampton-based manufacturer continues to handcraft authentic toggle coats and submariner sweaters in England using traditional construction methods. Their iconic duffle coats feature luxurious recycled wool from Italian mills in Tuscany, genuine buffalo horn toggles, and oak bark tanned leather details. Each garment is meticulously hand-finished with the same dedication to warmth, protection, and durability that has defined Montgomery for over 125 years. Their premium British-made knitwear, including classic submariner sweaters in merino wool, carries forward the proud heritage of nautical outerwear excellence.
