I've been looking for a cheeseboard with an integral 'loose' wire cutter (i.e. only attached at one end to the cheeseboard) like this for some time. This one is an attractive slate and the cheese wire works well for softer cheeses like goat's cheese logs and the like.

Meet the Maker: Coniston Stonecraft

Perched on the slopes of Coniston Old Man in the Lake District, Coniston Stonecraft has worked locally quarried slate for nearly half a century using skills passed down through generations. They craft beautiful homeware and kitchenware from Westmorland Sea Green, Brathay Blue-Grey, and Baycliff limestone - unique stones found nowhere else in the world, formed over 400 million years ago. Unlike imported slate, each piece showcases natural variations in color featuring pyrites, spar, copper, and iron inclusions that make every item truly one-of-a-kind. Powered by hydroelectricity from the mountain beck and using that same water to cool their polishers rather than oil, they maintain an exceptionally small ecological footprint. Master stonemasons handcraft each piece, with bespoke labels detailing which quarry the slate originated from and which artisan created it - a 250-million year guarantee of Lake District heritage.
