Hooton Grey Factory Clock Arabic Numerals

The Hooton Grey Factory Clock with Arabic numerals is a faithful recreation of clocks that would have hung on factory walls across Britain. These classic Synchronome clocks would have been a common sight. With workers checking them for lunch and knocking off time. The handmade Hooton Grey wall clocks, with aluminium bevel make a splendid grey wall clock for the home.
Synchronome were one of the classic British clock manufacturers. Founded in 1895, they unfortunately ceased trading many years ago. They supplied the BBC, The London Underground, Cunard, Liberty's and The Times. But in 2021 Mark Hope-Jones the founder's great-great-great-nephew resurrected the classic British brand. These meticulously crafted recreations have the same all-metal construction and vintage industrial feel, but features a stand-alone quartz movement.
Each Hooton Grey Factory Clock Arabic Numerals is individually built to order by hand and as such are delivered from the brand themselves. Each metal grey wall clock has its own distinguishing features, arising out of the artisanal nature of the components.

Meet the Maker: Synchronome Clocks

Established in 1895 by Frank Hope-Jones, Synchronome pioneered electric clock systems that became cornerstones of British industry and public life. From their bases in London's Clerkenwell, then Alperton and Wiltshire, Synchronome supplied precision timekeeping to the BBC, Selfridges, Harrods, Liberty, the London Underground, The Times, and ocean liners including Cunard's fleet. Frank Hope-Jones personally announced the first British Summer Time on BBC radio in 1923 and suggested the famous six 'pips' time signal. Today, relaunched by Mark Hope-Jones on the English-Welsh border at Hay-on-Wye, Synchronome creates handmade British wall clocks to order, recreating century-old all-metal traditional designs with modern quartz movements. Each clock features hand-spun steel cases, manually printed dials, hand-stamped serial numbers, and counterweighted hands, celebrating British precision engineering and industrial heritage in stunning contemporary colourways.
