Meet the Maker: Corgi Socks

Royal Warrant holders since 1989, Corgi has handcrafted the finest socks and knitwear in Wales since 1892 when founder Rhys Jones began making thigh-high woollen stockings for local colliers. Still run by Jones's great-great-grandchildren Chris Jones and Lisa Wood, this family business operates from the same Carmarthenshire valley in Ammanford where it began over 130 years ago. Using rare 125-year-old Griswold hand-knitting machines alongside traditional methods, skilled craftspeople hand-finish each sock with hand-linked toes creating an almost invisible seam. During World War II, Corgi supplied socks to British troops, and today their luxury wool, cotton, and cashmere products are worn by the Royal Family - Queen Elizabeth II chose Corgi socks, and Prince George sports their knitwear. Five generations of dedication to quality and Welsh craftsmanship make Corgi Britain's benchmark for luxury hosiery.
