The seaweed skincare that Haeckels of Margate proudly crafts now came about because Dom was, and still is, disillusioned with the cosmetic and skin care corporations. Whose products line many shelves around Britain, and their values and ethics.
So each scrub, soap, lotion and oil in their glorious natural skincare range is created because founder Dom obtained one of only two government licenses to harvest seaweed from the English coast. He’s rightly proud of this achievement. And takes the responsibility of crafting marine based skincare very seriously. Hence, the quality of each product that won’t be found anywhere else.
The journey to the Haeckels as it is now began in 2012, when Dom began creating soaps and beard oils in his kitchen for himself, his wife Jo and his friends. All handmade using the seaweed he had foraged along the Kent coast. Now, as a recognised producer of some of the finest seaweed skincare in Britain, Haeckels of Margate takes active part in the conservation of Britain’s oceans and coastlines. They organise regular beach cleans. And take part in many marine conservation surveys to ensure that the quality and pure natural beauty of our beaches does not go anywhere.
