Herein lies the legal details of our approach to and promises regarding the safety of your personal data, but, to save you some time and prevent any confusion, first we will outline the main points to make it more simple and less confusing. We will not do creepy snooping. Instead we will use your order information to ensure your order arrives in the right place and you know it is on its way. And if you supply your email to us and request to be kept updated we will send you Sir Gordon’s Bugle which provides insight into the wonderful quirks of British life and share with you more beautifully designed and manufactured British goods.

In most circumstances we try to ensure your data will not leave these fair Isles, let alone the EU - our web servers run by Guru are in Hemel Hempstead, we've chosen them because they are a British company who will protect your sensitive data with regards to your orders with us.

This simply means a cached version of our site is available on multiple servers around the world enabling you to reach us quicker from wherever you are and preventing people from attempting to access sensitive data on our servers. We use a company called Cloudflare for our CDN.

With regards to email communications your data may leave the EU in this circumstance. Our marketing emails are managed by MailChimp* which has servers in the US and for our customer services we use Google’s G Suite which has data centres in a few different countries. They are bound by the same GDPR rules as we are ensuring they respect your data as we do.

To help us better understand how visitors use our site, to see what's popular and what isn't, we use Hotjar. We don't collect any personally identifying information using it.

When making a purchase you will pay via Stripe and PayPal. It goes without saying that the transactions have the highest level of security and are PCI DSS compliant. We don’t store any of your card details, however your order will appear in our accounting software Xero* so we can pay our dues to HMRC.

*We worked hard to find a fully fledged British finance package which was compatible with WooCommerce to no avail. And a workable solution for our emarketing balancing cost, usability and functionality was also fruitless despite our endeavours. We use a third party provider, MailChimp, to deliver Gordon’s Bugle and our marketing emails. We gather statistics around email opening and clicks using industry standard technologies including clear gifs to help us monitor and improve our e-newsletter.
